Inspiration
The people who have inspired and mentored me.
Miriam Rogers
I am honoured to express my feelings about someone who inspires me deeply – a woman whose drive, courage and grit has shaped the way I few success in the wine world. She was bold when she needed to be - literally knocking on Chateau doors, asking winemakers if she could represent them in Ontario. She is soft when she needs to be, welcoming all of her employees as if they were her own children. She is also tremendously smart with the precise selection of topnotch producers worldwide. The woman is Miriam Rogers.
Miriam didn’t start with a boardroom or a brand, she started with a basement and a belief that wine was more than a product – it was a story waiting to be told in an industry that felt easier for men to navigate. She did not wait for an invite in to room, she created it herself. The invite wasn’t simply to the party next door but across countries, regions and blurring the lines between decades of time. Walking into centuries old-family-run vineyards and saying, “let me tell you a story about my neighborhood.” Because of Miriam I will always know there is room for great things in a room for of no-sayers. She didn’t give up when the no’s were piling up, she kept moving forward, trusting herself ever step of the way.

Ania de Duleba
Ania de Duleba stands as a powerful example of women leading the wine industry. Ania and her husband Edward are fully embracing their roles as second-generation winemakers on their 40-acre estate in Bearsville Bench Ontario. She began seriously studying wine in 2009 via WSET courses acquiring the two-year Diploma level and took over the production in 2020. I believe that Ania isn’t just running a winery-she lives it. She ‘s not the type to simply sit behind a desk and delegate, her personality delivers by assisting with all the small and meaningful tasks in the middle. Ania is happy to speak to wine lovers about her wine, she will hand deliver cases, she will answer emails late into the night. Her leadership is rooted in humility, hard work and a genuine love for sharing good wine. She shows, not just what incredible wine is in reach here in our own backyard but how to showcase this through all angles of the business.
